Lotion Bar Workshop (916 Montgomery St)

Create a moisturizing lotion bar. Explore endless possibilities and total creativity in this 1 hour class at Salacia Salts Studio. 

What is a lotion bar?

A lotion bar contains oils and butters from plants that essentially melt on your body. There are so many benefits of this product. It’s package free, made with no water, easy to travel with and can be used for skin, hair and as a cleanser. 

In your class, we will formulate a Lotion Bar for your particular needs. Maybe it’s a moisturizing bar to be used after the bath or shower. Maybe it’s part of a 2 part facial cleanser. The oils will attract debris and makeup from the surface of your skin, pulling elements from your pores. Follow up with your everyday cleanser for a complete clean. Or maybe you’d like to create a beard balm. The options are limitless!

Learn about butters, oils, and essential oils. Choose the combination of ingredients that work for your personalized formula.

• Guests will create 1 of the 3 styles (body, face, beard) of lotion bar. Each guest will leave with at least 2 of the same type bars.  
• Choose from a variety of molds (massage bars, shamrocks, hearts, turtles, sand dollars, seashells as well as simple shapes are just some of the many options!)
• An instructor will guide you through this experience. No experience needed to participate.

The process involves using a heating element and glass, so we recommend participants to be 13 years or older. Exceptions allowed if a parent or guardian is responsible for no more than 2 children at a time. Parents will be expected to assist the children in the experience. 

Depending on the mold (shape) used for your bars, the bars may need to be picked up  the next day at our gift shop (conveniently located at 148 Abercorn St) the following day between 10-5p. We are open daily except for major holidays. We have a traditional square mold that can be used if you wish to take your bars home the same day. Please allow about 20 minutes for the bars to cool before they can be unmolded. 

Lotion bars do not travel well in temperatures over 90 degrees, so please plan accordingly. For example, do not leave them in a hot car after you leave the class. 

If you'd rather the final products be shipped, we can coordinate during the workshop. The cost to ship any quantity of Lotion Bars is charged per shipping address ($8 per address) and will be collected at the end of the class.

NOTICE: We have several locations in downtown Savannah. This workshop is hosted at 916 Montgomery Street. We have plenty of free on-street parking.
