It’s National Pecan Month!

Not only do pecans smell and taste delicious, there are numerous health benefits that come from pecans — so we couldn’t help but show our appreciation and celebrate this fantastic nut with National Pecan Month!

Ellagic acid, Vitamin E and A are some of the antioxidants present in pecans. They fight against free radicals that are responsible for causing premature ageing of the skin. Putting pecans in your diet and using them on your skin can reduce the various signs of aging like wrinkles, pigmentations and fine lines. Pecans yield a high oil content of around 70% which we love to use in our lotions for a sweet scented moisturizer. The crushed pecans in our salt soaks and bar soaps are great for softening skin. Our bar soap has pure Atlantic Sea Salt throughout, adding a bit of grit for an exfoliating benefit too.

Pecans are great for skin and great for you – good for your body inside and out!

Pecans are great as savory or sweet. Salacia Salts products are made in Savannah (and we get our pecan down the road in Vidalia. Yes, that Vidalia is more than just onions!) and boy do we have a bounty of sweet options when we’re looking for a sweet pecan treat. It’s a pecan lover’s dream here. Head to Savannah’s Candy Kitchen for some pecan pralines, to Leopold’s Ice Cream for a scoop of butter pecan ice cream, or Goose Feathers Cafe for a sticky bun topped with nutty southern pecans, or a slice of delicious pecan pie!
