National Relaxation Day

Today is one of our favorite days of the year - National Relaxation Day! To help you achieve maximum relaxation, we've put together a guide to help you treat yourself to an at-home spa experience.

1. Get rid of distractions & gather your supplies

We know that your day can be hectic, but try to do what you can to carve out some time to yourself with limited distractions. That means turn off your phone (or at least emails and notifications). Prior to your spa day, clean your bathtub and bathroom, pick up some fruits and veggies from the grocery store and take off any nail polish you may already have on.

What you’re going to need for your spa experience:

2.  Make yourself a healthy snack and drink water

Start your spa experience off right with a healthy snack. Make sure to drink 2 glasses of chilled water before starting the spa treatments… you don’t want to get dehydrated! Bring a pitcher of chilled water with you to the bathroom so you can continue drinking.

3. Revitalize your hair

Star with a deep conditioning masque for your hair. Apply your conditioner to dry hair, coating it thoroughly. Depending on the condition of your hair, you may want to apply more than once! Following the application, place the shower cap over your head and gently warm your hair for about 15 minutes using the low or medium heat setting.

After your hair is warm and well conditioned, shampoo and condition your hair as normal.

4. Exfoliate your body and rejuvenate your face

Grab your Salt Scrub and apply to your body from the shoulders down. Feel free to use a washcloth for an even application. After stepping out of the shower, do a quick wipe down of the tub and fill it with warm water. Take a second to pluck your eyebrows while the warm water has opened up your pores — and drink a glass of cold water, slowly.

While the tub is filling, apply the face masque of your choice (following the directions!) and light candles around the room for ambiance. Dim the lights to create a calm and soothing atmosphere. Exfoliate and rejuvenate your lips with your lip scrub to give your lips (and yourself!) a quick and delicious treat.

5. Soothe your body

Pour 4 oz of Salt Soak into your bath and give it a quick swirl with your hand or foot. Step in and relax until the water cools. The Atlantic sea salt found in our soaks improve your circulatory system, serve as a natural antihistamine, improve muscle tone and strength and reduce muscle cramps (and helps to plump and brighten the skin!). Following your soak, pat your body dry and wrap up in a luxurious bathrobe.

6. Pamper your hands and feet

Last but not least, your hands and feet. Slather body lotion on your hands and feet (and elbows and knees, too, if they’re dry) and then give yourself a mani/pedi. Take your time, don’t rush!

After your mani/pedi, stay in your bathrobe or put on some comfortable clothes. Spend the rest of the day relaxing, reading magazines or catching up on that book you’ve been meaning to read — and nosh on some healthy fruits and vegetables while doing so!
